Hot Tub vs. Swim Spa: Which is Better For Your Family?

Swim Spas and Hot Tubs are a fantastic way to create a backyard oasis in your home. They both offer several health benefits, lots of fun and they even increase your home’s value! But which one is better for your family? Here is a quick breakdown of what you need to consider when choosing between a swim spa and a hot tub.

Size

Arctic Spas® offers a variety of different-sized hot tubs. You can get the Fox, which is a small three-person hot tub (5’ x 7’) all the way up to the Summit XL, which is 8’ x 10’ and seats nine people!

On the other hand, All Weather Pool Swim Spas only come in one size, 8’ x 14’, with six different models to choose from. It’s recommended that a pool take up less than a third of your overall yard, an All Weather Pool Swim Spa is 112 square feet so you will need a yard that is at least 336 square feet.

Another thing to take into consideration is how many people you want to have in your hot tub or swim spa. While swim spas are bigger, they generally seat less people than hot tubs because of the swimming lane. If you want to have more than six friends or family sitting in the tub at once, a hot tub would probably be a better fit.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is a great way to soothe your sore muscles and it’s a key component of both hot tubs and All Weather Pool Swim Spas. All of Arctic Spas’® products are custom built, which means you get to choose all of the features that make the most sense for your needs. One of the features that you get to choose is how many jets you want.

All of our hot tubs were designed with hydrotherapy in mind, we want to give you a high quality massage every time you get in your hot tub. You can choose to have anywhere from 20-60 jets in your hot tub. The more jets you have, the better your massage will be.

All Weather Pool Swim Spas are a little different. Some models are designed to have both swimming and a hydrotherapy component while others are mostly focused on swimming. The Ocean is a great All Weather Pool Swim Spa for both hydrotherapy and fitness. It has seating for six people and comes with up to 60 jets so you can have a great massage after your water workout.

Fitness

All Weather Pool Swim Spas are a great way to exercise while being easy on all of your joints and muscles. There are so many great ways to exercise in a swim spa, and hot tubs do not offer the same luxury.

Our fitness kit allows you to row and use resistance bands to do a full-body workout in the water. Working out in an All Weather Pool Swim Spa is much easier on your body than a regular workout.

You can also use your All Weather Pool Swim Spa as a swimming pool! High-powered jetting created a current that you can swim against. You can also use the tether system as another method of swimming in the All Weather Pool Swim Spa.

A great All Weather Pool Swim Spa for fitness enthusiasts is the Wolverine. The Wolverine only has two seats in it to make room for an extra long swimming lane. It is also equipped with our upgraded swimming system to challenge even the strongest swimmers.

As you can see, there are a lot of things to take into consideration when choosing between a hot tub and a swim spa. Hot tubs are a great option for people who are looking for a smaller option that has great hydrotherapy. All Weather Pool Swim Spas are best for people who are looking for an above ground pool with lots of different ways to exercise and an option for a massage afterwards.
